Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) with S Bike Mode launched in India

Samsung has finally launched the much-anticipated Galaxy J3 in India, today at INR 8990. The smartphone will be exclusively available on Snapdeal starting from today, in Black, White and Gold color options. The Samsung Galaxy J3 is also popularly known as Samsung Galaxy J3 (6). India is the third market ever to get this smartphone, Galaxy J3 (2016) was earlier launched in China and USA. Samsung Galaxy J3 is the first affordable smartphone from the company that has been equipped with inbuilt NFC (Near Field Communication, a tech similar to Bluetooth).

Talking about the smartphone’s most attention grabbing feature, the Galaxy J3 (2016) comes with S bike mode. This is an intuitive feature where a biker while riding a bike can activate the S mode to avoid unwanted calls during the course of the ride, all this only to ensure that you can enjoy a tension free ride. Moreover, the S bike mode sets your phone to mute and automatically sends a text message to the caller, however, if the call is urgent, the caller can press 1 on their phone, and you will get a notification on your mobile screen. Riders can also mark a few contacts as important so that they can be notified even while riding.

Not only that, the S mode also provides a Motion Lock facility using which you can take important calls only by stopping the bike. To activate the S bike mode, you need to tap your phone with NFC tag, which comes in the box. We recommend you to place the NFC tag on the two-wheeler’s fuel tank or the rider’s helmet. The feature can also be enabled via Quick Settings. The company is further trying to promote safety by including a gamification system – logging the amount of time and distance traveled using the S Bike Mode, and giving users a chance to win up to Rs. 1,500 per month from Freecharge “for being a responsible rider.” The Galaxy J3’s S bike mode has been designed in India by local engineers.

Talking about the specs, the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) features 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.5GHz Quad-core Spreadtrum SC9830 64-bit processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage with microSD card slot support (up to 128 GB). The phone also comes with Dual SIM, 4G LTE support, 8MP rear camera with LED flash, and 5MP front shooter. It is powered by a 2600mAh battery, which also embedded with NFC chip. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with TouchWiz UI on top and Samsung has pre-loaded the UDS (Ultra Data Saving) feature on the smartphone. It measures 142.3 x 71 x 7.9 mm and weighs 138 grams.
