The Chinese smartphone manufacturing company Xiaomi has finally unveiled the Redmi Note 3 smartphone for Indian consumers at ‘Mi 2016 product launch‘ event held in New Delhi, today. To remind you, Xiaomi originally launched Redmi Note 3 smartphone with MediaTek processor in China last year. But due to the legal battle against Ericsson the company was banned from selling the MediaTek devices in India, so the company had to launch a Snapdragon-powered Redmi Note 3 earlier this year, and the same variant is being now launched in India. The design of the Snapdragon-powered Redmi Note 3 remains similar to the MediaTek-powered Redmi Note 3, but the former comes with powerful internals under the hood that makes it device better in the mid-range segment. Moreover, the Redmi Note 3 is the third Made In India smartphone from the company.
The Redmi Note 3 boasts full metal body and it is also the first smartphone in the company’s portfolio sports a fingerprint scanner that can unlock your phone in less than 0.3 seconds. Despite having an all metal unibody, the Redmi Note 3 features a slightly curved design at back, which the company claims makes it easier to hold. Up front, it has a 5.5-inch IPS Full HD Sunlight display and thanks to the Xiaomi’s hardware-level algorithms, which automatically adjust the contrast for each pixel in real time and also improves readability in sunlight.
Unlike the Redmi Note 3 MediaTek variant launched in China, the Indian model houses 1.8GHz Hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor (2x ARM Cortex A72 and 4x ARM Cortex A53) and it also supports 4G+ network which is significantly faster than the traditional 4G networks out there. The Snapdragon 650 CPU backed by Adreno 510 GPU with the DirectX 12 and OpenGL ES 3.1 support will indeed give users to ultimate gaming experience that too without a single hiccup. What’s more, the Redmi Note 3 scored 77592 on AnTuTu Benchmark results. That’s insane.
The smartphone comes in two storage variants one with 16GB internal storage coupled with 2GB of RAM and a 4000mAh battery, while the 32GB variant paired with slightly bumped 3GB of RAM and a 4050mAh battery. In addition, Xiaomi brought back microSD card support in the Redmi Note 3 via hybrid SIM card slot, which means you can use the device’s second SIM card slot to expand the base storage of either 16GB or 32GB models to further by another 32GB using microSD card. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with MIUI 7, and the MIUI 7 takes the Redmi Note 3’s Fingerprint sensor to a whole new level by allowing users to capture a selfies with front and back cameras. In addition, users can protect their app data with the new biometric authentication system on Redmi Note 3, and you can do a lot more with it.
The device has got 16MP rear shooter with Dual Image Sensor Processor (ISP) and PDAF that can focus in staggeringly fast 0.1s. The rear camera is complimented up by True Tone Dual LED flash to compliment photos in low light conditions. There is a front 5MP camera for selfie lovers that comes with 36 front beauty profiles. The connectivity options include the 4G LTE with VoLTE, Dual SIM (Hybrid Slot: Micro + Nano) with Dual Standby. Both SIM slots can be used to access 4G LTE data speeds and the second SIM slot can be used as microSD card slot. The other connectivity features are Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, micro USB 2.0, FM Radio, IR Blaster, GPS with a-GPS and GLONASS.

The Redmi Note 3 will be available in two variants — 16GB ROM/2GB RAM and 32GB ROM/3GB RAM. The 16GB variant in India is priced at INR 9999, while the 32GB variant is priced at INR 11999. Both the variants will be initially available on Mi.com and Amazon India (Flash sales) starting from March 9th, 2 PM, but should later availability expand to other online retailers and offline partner channels in coming weeks.
