BlackBerry Priv Gets Major Price Cut

In order to recover from the set back faced due to the Android boom, BlackBerry launched Priv, its own Android-powered smartphone. Priv was introduced with an aggressive price tag, which did not please quite a lot of people and thus, BlackBerry faced slow start to their Android venture. To speed up matters BlackBerry introduced a significant price cut to its Android powered smartphone. The price cut was introduced in BlackBerr home country, Canada. The Priv is now priced at CAD 250, which is a whopping CAD 150 price drop from its original price tag of CAD 400.

However, currently only the Canadian carrier SaskTel is offering the Priv on contract at CAD 250. Other carriers like Rogers, are still selling it at its original price tag of CAD 400. We might see the price drop by these carriers in the coming days. Meanwhile, the BlackBerry Priv unlocked model is now available in the USA at $699.

Additionally, BlackBerry expanded the availability of Priv smartphone to the six new countries recently, which includes Germany, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and Philippines.
